Consumer Reports has a really cool interactive quiz regarding maternity care which is not only fun, but may really open your eyes to the truth about some basic, routine procedures given during labor and delivery.
Some of the true/false statements include:
- Due-date estimates can be off by up to two weeks.
- "Breaking the waters" helps hasten labor.
- Once you've had a C-section, it's best to do it again.
- Epidural anesthesia is a low-risk way to make labor easier.
- Episiotomies reduce the risk of perineal tearing.

I passed with flying colors!

This is a great quiz! I just took it, and I got them all right. But I've spent hours and hours researching birth. I think that less birth obsessed ladies might very well find some big surprises here. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'd like to share this quiz on my blog, too. May I credit you with bringing it to my attention?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Did you think I would turn down free publicity? Seriously, yes, you may credit me.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I really love your blog colors!
