I want you to think of this poem and verse when you find yourself thinking that the role you perform as a stay-at-home wife, mother, or daughter doesn't really accomplish anything. Remember that what you do today, no matter how small, will inevitably influence future generations:
What If the Rain Should Say
What if the little rain should say,
'So small a drop as I
Can ne'er refresh the thirsty plain;
I'll tarry in the sky'?
What if a shining beam of noon
should in its fountain stay,
Because its feeble light alone
cannot create a day?
Doth not each rain-drop help to form
the cool refreshing shower?
And every ray of light, to warm
and beautify the flower?
"For who hath despised the day
of small things?..." (Zechariah 4:10)
